Baby’s stroller – by far one of the most expensive purchases you’ll make when it comes to preparing for your baby’s arrival. And with the countless options out there, it can be an overwhelming experience for any new mom. Once you’ve made that choice, though, it’s a purchase that will last a long time and can easily take you from newborn to preschool age. That’s why it’s so important to do your research and ask yourself some key questions before you start to shop.
1. What’s my budget?
Strollers can get expensive so knowing your budget before you start will help narrow your search and keep you on the right track.
2. Are accessories included?
Some strollers come with key accessories like tray tables and weather shields while others require you to purchase any extras. 3. What kind of terrain will you be using your stroller on?

Little plastic wheels are only really good for paved surfaces while large, heavy duty wheels are good for long stretches of gravel or cobblestone.

7. Is the brake easy to use?

8. Is the stroller easy to push, pull and pivot?
You’ll want a stroller that’s easy to push, pull and pivot, especially once you have baby’s weight in there. When you’re shopping for strollers, bring something heavy with you (your purse may even do the trick) to mimic the weight of a baby – the store may even have something for you to use. Then push, pull and pivot as you would on a regular walk or shop. It’ll give you a good idea of how the stroller performs once baby is in it.
9. Can it transition to a double stroller?
It might seem too soon to think about baby number 2 already, but if there’s any chance you may want to expand your family in the near future it’s a good idea to look at a stroller that will allow you to add an extra seat.
10. Are you looking for an all-purpose stroller or a lightweight travel stroller?
Some of the best strollers on the market can be quite heavy, so if you think you may be doing a lot of travelling with your stroller, it might be a good idea to look for something small and lightweight. You may also want to think about getting a couple of different strollers for different uses (i.e. one for travel, one for running/trails, one for everyday use etc.).
And remember, there is no perfect stroller so it’s a good idea to choose the one that best fits your lifestyle. Like buying a car, don’t just buy the first baby stroller that you see - take your time, try them out and try to imagine yourself using it in your day to day life. It might sound silly, but you’ll be glad you did once your little newborn is snuggled safely inside!
